The San Francisco 1957 Earthquake - I was five years old, living in Merced Heights of San Francisco. It was a sunny day and my mother was tying my shoes before taking me to school. The house shuck and I remember being scared as she carried me down the hall of the house and pictures on the wall moved as we went by. We looked into the kitchen and all the cabinet doors were wide open and dishes falling out of them. She carried me to the car, we sat and watch the telephone and power lines swing back and forth and than the earthquake stopped. Never run outside in an earthquake get inside of a doorway or archway.
