WOW Parkside !!
Grew up about a block and a half away. Saw my first movie in a theater there at the age of four. The movie was "Island at the Top of the World" a Disney adventure flick set in the early 20th century. I remember being mezmerized by the huge visuals !
Loved it and have been a movie buff since.
Years later they removed the bottom floor and you could only sit in the balcony. Wish I had seen it in its 1920s glory before it got worked over in the 60s or 70s.
We watched them tear out the remnants of the theater a few years back in favor of condos and you could still see some of the original ornamentation under the 60s-70s drywall ! What a tragedy.
Cant believe the old Parkside has to live on shamefully painted in those tacky rainbow colors with fake balcony railing to balconies that dont exist.
The ugly face of "progress" rears its head again !
