The ten-ride car ticket, er, punch card lives on the Vallejo ferry system. Last October, after taking an extended trip, I bought a ten-ride card because it was (almost) all I needed for the month instead of the more costly monthly pass. Actually, I needed 11 rides that month and would have to also buy a one-way ticket, which is the most expensive per-ride fare, for my commute home on Friday evening. However, one evening prior to that when I was getting on the boat, the deckhand took my ticket, gave me a smile, and punched through one of the previously punched holes. I had a sudden memory of being a little girl on the 24 Divisadero and having the bus driver do that.
