Re: Muni musings - sardine can

When the buses were full (sardine can) it made it easy to hop on through the back door when they stopped to let people off. I saved my "nickel punch" a few times by doing that so I could have a couple punches left on my card for use over the weekend. Also we were friendly with a bus driver on the "66" who occasionally would give us extra transfers when we were going places all over The City and he would even slide them down in the "transfer dispenser" to make them good for extra time we figured we needed them for.

One thing us kids used to do was to place a penny on the tracks on Taraval hoping the "L" streetcar would flatten it.
