It was surreal both 57' & 89'. At age 6, the 57' quake (14th-Vicente) generated nightmares for weeks after.
32 years later: Commuting home to Burlingame after traveling the Cypress & B.Bridge 10-5 min. before. Spending the next days in S.Cruz with Mom, serving her tea(etc.) & hot meals off of my trusty Weber table top BBQ.
Putting my ear to the ground during the many 4.5+ aftershocks is something I'll never forget.
I remember a rumor of a neighbor throwing his GW Bush lawn signs out in the street, when GW sent his boy Danny out to hover 'safely' over in a helo a week later... <grin>
