Frank, I knew I had a photo (8x10) of the Excursion Steam ship, "The General Frank M. Coxe". I dug it out and it is a rather large ship. It was used as a spectator boat for A South End Rowing Club Golden Gate Swim in the '40's. I can count over 60 folks on two decks, And that is only on the forward portion of the the ship that is shown in the picture. The ship's large name on the top of the vessel can be clearly seen along with a partially obscured big canvas hung sign that says Excursion Steam... A life preserver hung on a rail also says General F.... along with San Francisco, painted on this circular life preserver.
