John, I doubt if it was the General Frank M. Coxe as it was a very small boat about 30 to 40 feet long. But then again it was so long ago I could be wrong about that fact.

Our trip to Angel Island was a great outing. We brought our own lunches and hiked over as much of that island as time would allow. The YMCA is an outstanding organization and during the summer months we usually had an outing every Saturday, often taking us to Marin County where there was some outstanding hiking. Remember, that this was before the Golden Gate Bridge was built so it involved a ferry boat trip which was exciting for a bunch of kids.

The next and last time I visited Angel Island was around 1975 when I went to an company outing. This time I took my bicycle and rode around the island visiting Civil War barracks and also the quarters where Chinese immigrants were kept before allowing them to enter the country.
