We were summer Monday regulars at MT&CC (the weekday my mom took off work) between 1968 and 1971. I believe the admission for the family at the time was $1.50. We were Holy Namers and would always run into kids from St. Anne's or St. Cecilia's. I made a (futile) attempt to visit the place in 2003 and was surprised to see it really had not changed much. The huge sign welcoming guests, "When it's rainy and cold in San Francisco...it is always sunny here," was still at the entrance. As I walked into the complex, a rather disheveled man approached me and asked me why I was on private property and I told him I used to frequent MT&CC as a kid and I was curious to see what it now looked liked. He told me to go no further and said, "My job is to keep the likes of you out of this place." Enough said and I left. Change of ownership, I guess.
