Reminiscing on the education I received via the schools I attended really makes me thankful. Having taught 3rd grade for 10 years and working for the South Dakota Department of Education for seven more, I’ve come to appreciate the classes offered me including organic chemistry to calculus, etc. I think back on some of those teachers too. Risking a repeat of earlier threads, how about you? Any teachers stand out in your memories? I think of third grade and Mrs. Keleher at Crespi, Mrs. Gould (5th) at Parkside (I’ll never forget states and their capitals!) Mr. Halling (biology) at Hoover (taking the rats home for the weekend and his student teacher Mr. Ball stepping on a sea anenome at Moss Beach on a field trip,) Miss Canepa (chemistry at Hoover and Lincoln,) Mrs. Perelli (geometry at Lincoln,) Coach Holland at Lincoln (drinking coffee at the window as we did jumping jacks in the “driveway” connecting the Boys’ Gym,) Mr. Knipper (mechanical drawing at Hoover,) and many others. Great folks all.
