I went to Jefferson in 1956 or '57 when we had the big earthquake that knocked the windows out of many of the store windows.
My mom was a waitress at Kaizer's Colonial, the coffee shop on Irving between 19th and 20th. Does anyone remember going there for a soda or ice cream sundee??? They had great food. My mom worked for Ellen for many years and Blanche worked there also. Ellen owned it and was the cook. In those days they took two weeks off in the summer and closed down.
I would love to hear from anyone that remembers the coffee shop...I think it is a Chinese Resturant now.
