I was sitting in 8th grade class, just before lunch, next to me was the present day Sheriffs husband. Things started shaking he dove under the nuns big desk. I was trying to duck under my small desk, as the plaster came down. Thank heavens we all survived to talk about it. I still recall that picture in Stonestown of a corner of plate glass windows with the tablecloth hanging out

I always recall Herb Caen's tale of a group of folks in LA when a jolt hits. Guy steps forward and states "I'm from San Francisco we stand in a doorway", another fella says " I'm from Portland where do I stand" ***
