Re: Memories

As a writer of non-fiction books, I use Ancestry.com frequently to research the persons involved, and I've had reasonably good success. I was disappointed, however, in searching for my own family members. My grandparents were of the Ellis Island generation, and all were in SF by 1930, yet they seem to have left a very sketchy trail. I know the basic stories of their lives there, yet I've been unable to find many written records of their presence. It seems that the poor and working classes have left a much smaller footprint that the upper and middle classes.
