I agree Paul. I'm no architect, and certainly wasn't back when I was a kid of the 50s-60s, but the building always seemed to be "WAY ahead of its time" in terms of contemporary design and the use of natural light and minimalist appointments, for its day.
Does anyone know who the architect was?
Whoever he/she was, they certainly did not trend toward the dark, dank library interiors of the time.
At the same time, I adored the Main Branch of the SFPL, because it reeks of the history of its time, and I always felt like I was entering "hallowed halls."
Maybe the Parkside Library gave me a "taste of the future?"
