My father told me about the glass window coffins. He was a student at Lowell at Hayes and Masonic. After school, he and friends one day walked up to the area about where UCSF (former Firemen's Fund office) is. This was during the time that the graves from the remaining city cemeteries were dug and sent to Colma. He said that there were coffins with windows and the laborers digging them would smash the glass searching for gold teeth. They ran him and his friends off.
