Re: Colonial donut truck

Oh jb, keep on keepin' on loadin' us with your high calorie recollections. In my frugal childhood home mom kept a tight hold on the purse. Thus, I looked upon the yellowish Colonial Bread Truck slowly parading along our block with wishful eyes. The donut a week I got came from the Sugar Bowl Bakery after Sunday mass. My dilemma was should it be chocolate or powdered sugar, crumbs from which fell across the Sunday Comic pages. Dad got dibs on the bear claw, mom the butter horn and younger sis (older sisters were already out of the house) usually just licked the topping off what ever remained.
