I knew Charlie Sava through my god-father, Tom Troneum, who was also a member of the Dolphin Club. Charlie had taught Tom to swim competitively and Tom passed those lessons on to me. When I was 13 years old (almost 14) I swam across the Golden Gate with the Dolphin Club and Tom.
Tom later on worked at the Charlie Sava Pool also. I never took swimming lessons from Charlie but my sister did at Crystal Plunge.
