I was never a swimmer, very scared of the water, and remember with great dread my lessons at the then-Larson Pool. Figured out a way to ditch them, hide in the Parkside Library reading books, and then, before walking back home, wet my hair and bathing suit in a gas station bathroom sink (can't recall which one) on Taraval and 19th!!!
To this day, I avoid the water!!! Just not my "thing!"

I recall "The Crystal Plunge" name - but where was it located??
