Rock Out

11/28/16 - posted by jb

Having taken the pledge and plunge to learn electric guitar for my 66th birthday, I'd like to hear from you garage band idols who learned to play in your young teens and cover such great hits as Gloria, Midnight Hour and Wipe Out. I recall in 65-66, bands with kids we knew from school were sounding professional, playing 2-3 hour gigs and never running out of songs.

What was it like to be in a garage band in the 60-70s? How much practice did it take and how many of you took lessons or just picked it up?

What are the bands, venues, songs and neighborhoods you associate with all the great music that went on beyond the Fillmore, Avalon and Winterland.

To those about to rock and write, we salute you.

Cheers,
jb
