Before I could drive, I recall riding with my mom in the '60s down Sunset Blvd and also 19th Ave. I remember her saying that the lights were timed for 35 mph. If you hit the greens just right and were able to maintain your speed at 35, you wouldn't have to stop. Once time I remember it actually happened that way when we were heading home from Stonestown driving north. (Must have been in '64 or '65). We made it all the way to Irving without a stop. That's practically impossible today due to traffic, but I still play the game when driving on those streets just to see how far I can get without encountering a red. No slide rule necessary.
