Nolte who graduated with me at the Civic Auditorium is I believe the best columnist on SF of my era. I do disagree with him in his belief that the City is better than ever. That is a judgment call. I much preferred our town when it was like a bunch of villages connected closely together with no parking problems. I recall the days that no matter where one roamed in the City you most likely saw someone you knew directly or indirectly, maybe just a friend of your parents or someone from your neighborhood. Those days are truly over. Now it seems everyone is a "Elsewhereian" and the City is like a disturbed ant hill. It is still exciting, thriving and beautiful but not the same for me.
