June 6, 1944 - D-Day

06/06/17 - posted by Mary-Ann

Another day to honor and remember for the courage and sacrifices of American, British and Allied troops storming the beaches of Normandy under heavy gunfire and resistance. It was truly a 'Longest Day' - but they gained their foothold.

The only mention of this day in our newspaper was by Snoopy in today's Peanuts cartoon. Thanks, Buddy...I think there are still many of us around who will never forget.
