Thank you Hugh but I couldn't really find anything.

The type of encounters I was looking for were personal encounters rather than group or school against school encounters. These were the same personal type encounters that were once practiced in the mid 1800s and earlier in duels.

These were not just fights in the typical way like two people getting in an argument and fighting.

No. They were challenges to meet at a certain time at a certain spot and then broadcast around to others the same way that duels were practiced except that fists were usually used with the school boys.
