Re: Thanksgiving Dinner Memories

Patrick--So true! In the years before WWII, my dad and my uncle were still living at home with their widowed mother on 21st Avenue near Rivera in the Sunset. The two boys were working the swing shift at the Rincon Annex Post Office, and would arrive home around 11:45 p.m. Every year, on that day after Thanksgiving, Grandma would have the leftover turkey on the counter, and would begin preparing turkey sandwiches as the boys arrived. The three of them would then sit at the table in their bathrobes, just waiting for the clock to chime Midnight, and then dig in!
