I went ice skating there in the 60's at a time kids could take the 18 Sloat bus on their own without parents worrying. At least I didn't know they worried and didn't care anyway. My big memory was buying Nestle Crunch bars, slowly unwrapping the foil, breaking off small pieces, and savoring each bite. There were always show offs in the middle of the ice doing fancy moves while the rest of us were happy to go slowly around the outside.
