Who can forget Saturday Matinees at the Parkside? Or the strips of 10 movies for a dollar during the summer? Talk about some rowdy kid times!
The downtown theaters are where my great aunt Phoebe would take us - all dressed up and acting like perfect gentlemen because she would wither us with a glare if we stepped out of line.
It was always a treat to go with her and we saw all of the blockbuster movies of the late '50's and early '60s at the Fox, Loews Warfield, and Cinerama at the Orpheum.
Good times, indeed. Now... i download them and watch 'em at home.
