Pearl Harbor Remembrances
It's time again to observe this date. In the past it was observed on this site. Old wars are forgotten. OK, who remembers 11 September 09 2001? How long will it be until it is brushed aside?
Most of these long liked people on this site who contributed their memories are gone. They used to be moved by Pearl Harbor remembrances and observed it each year. I assumed (I know what u&me= unfortunately) others would continue the tradition. Most, if none, are now gone from this site. They appreciated our observances.
War has been less celebrated in recent years, which is good, but do you scorn those of your family who had no choice but to be drafted not so long ago? Now we have other wars, or whatever labels, which kill, injurer or mentally destroy young lives.
I assumed (back again to U&me=) someone/people would continue to these now fading observances, but apparently not. OK. If one of your relatives, friend, whoever is involved in a future war would you care if they were ignored?
So, remember those who are now long gone: Frank Grant, Charles Grant, and those who remember Mary-Ann Orr, their family members and friends, and so many others, before you shrug.
I apologize for being so gloomy. I regret no one remembers. (My father, Steve Smyk's ship, was torpedoed in the North Atlantic. He survived, and never forgot those who did not.)
"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
When you are cut off by some nasty other driver today, just remain calm. It's a start (and will prevent your blood pressure spiking/prevent a heart attack).
Thanks Frank, Charles, and every one else. I haven't forgotten your service, and everyone else's over the war and after, even if any one else does. To those who gave up their future dreams and lives, all I can say is RIP, and hope you are never forgotten.
Remember Pearl Harbor!
I promised I always would, so here I am one more time.
Thanks every one for remembering.
