Does Anyone Remember Polly Ann's?

My heart was broken when I returned home to San Francisco a few years ago only to discover that Polly Ann's Ice Cream parlor (a few blocks south of SI) had closed! I used to love that place. It was an after school fixture for the SI and Mercy crowd. They had the most bizarre ice cream flavors--like garlic or rose petal. I remember going there in college with a friend of mine who had this very cool VW bug convertible. Polly Ann's had the gimmick where if you brought your dog, they would give you this minature dog sized ice cream cone filled with vanilla ice cream for your dog. So, my friend and would each take our dogs and pile them into the back of her bug and get them all treats. It must have been quite the site but we and the dogs had fun. And they had really, really good ice cream! What happened????
