Wow...that last "Re" pretty much covered the smells of SF...How about the SOUNDS? (From my upstairs back bedroom at 2443 28th Ave.) The pounding of the surf, the roar of lions at the zoo, (along with the wailing whistle of "Little Puffer",) the shrill, acending howl of the spider monkeys, The "THUMP" of the 14" rifles at Ft. Funston, (which broke all of our back windows.) The soft, electro-mechanical growl of the Iron Monsters plodding up the hilly blocks of Taraval St., the far-off & forlorn whistle of freight trains in Colma. There must be a lot more, but can't think of anything else just now......
