My friend, Leslie, would have her mom's Valiant on Friday nights. We would go the gas station in West Portal and fill it with 50 cents and drive up and down the El Camino Real going from spot to spot meeting young men from the San Mateo Area. We were tired of city boys and it was more exciting to meet new guys. Her mom's Valient had push buttons for the gear shift and we had a heck of a time trying to parallel park in the city. We were 16 and loving life in those days.......
