Haha I had to laugh when you mentioned the drive in on Sloat Blvd, next to what is now the Irish Cultural Center. It was called Jumbo's drive-in and they sold hamburgers to the kids from Lowell, Lincoln, Washington, Poly, and sometimes Balboa & Mission. They would buy a hamburger then race hot rods on the Great Highway. I worked there in 1964, in the 11th grade at Lincoln High. There was a rumor of somebody peeing in the pickle barrel....and I was the one blamed!
