Five memorable events

Hey scouts--

I'm in the midst of doing a project for my real world work (as opposed to getting lost in this www site) that looks at the importance of certain professional events, personal events, and key primary sources that impacted a person as part of a particular field.

That work suggests a possible theme for this site.

What are five events that happened in the western neighborhoods that you most remember as being of the greatest impact on the area or for that matter you as a person (it is difficult to pull the two apart). So as to delimit the area under consideration, I'm afraid that the Russian River was not part of the western neighborhoods.

I'll try with five in no particular order--

1. Both the Sutro fire and the Jefferson School fire (do you know what they had in common?)

2. Patty Hearst with a bullet

3. Demolition of Commodore Sloat School (your elementary school is supposed to be the rock of Gilbraltar)

4. Surfing coming to Ocean Beach in a big way (60's)

5. The influence of the Haight, and it's spillover to the park, etc.
