Re: Your Corner Market - Jack's

I cannot find a current listing for the Pinelake Market at 1209 Vicente St., so assume it has gone away like so many others. The Pinelake Market originally occupied the first floor of the building at the SW corner of 23 Av. & Vicente St., (now a popular Chinese restaurant.) It was a grocery store, connected by an internal wall opening to the building next door, which housed the meat market. In the early 1940's? there was a serious fire in the corner building which destroyed the grocery. It re-opened in the adjoining building, merged with the meat market, and so remained until very recent times. I can't recall the surnames of the owners in those early days, but they were known to all as Guido & Cookie. (If I have screwed up history at any point in the account, I would love to hear any comments or correcftions.)
