Larry Simi passed along his reminiscences of the 1957 earthquake as we were commemorating the 55th anniversary of the event:
I remember it being touch & go re whether my dad would take me to the Seals game that night The Red Sox were barnstorming home from spring training and visited the AAA farm team Fortunately my oldest brother agreed to stay home with my mom and we went out to 16th and Bryant. Theodore Samuel Williams, the greatest pure hitter of all time, pinch hit and popped up. We got home late and I had just fallen asleep when a very big aftershock hit right around midnight scaring the hell out of everyone again!
The Seals won the PCL pennant that year, their last in SF.
