Join former Western Neighborhoods Project board member and historic preservation consultant Richard Brandi for a history walk of two similar-sounding residence parks with very different histories. Ashbury Terrace contains a collection of stately homes. Ashbury Park was launched by a brick manufacturer on Twin Peaks and failed to make it, but some early houses and the Pemberton steps remain. This walking tour is based on Brandi’s book, "Garden Neighborhoods of San Francisco, the Development of Residence Parks 1905-1924," by McFarland Publishing.
Our journey begins at 10:00am and takes about 2 hours. Grade: moderate, includes concrete steps with handrails. Please note that while we at WNP love animals, we can no longer allow dogs on our walking tours, in order to accommodate the needs of all our guests. Thank you for understanding.
Please register through Eventbrite. $10 for WNP members (and we absorb your Eventbrite fees) and $20 for non-members. The super secret meeting location will be emailed to you when tickets are purchased. The walk is limited to 30 people.
