Join historian and retired park ranger John Martini for a semi-strenuous walk along the edge of San Francisco. Our journey will follow the fabled Ferries & Cliff House steam train route along the rugged cliffs of Lands End all the way to Sea Cliff. We’ll return through Lincoln Park and the abandoned roadway El Camino Del Mar. Highlights include an overview of the Cliff House and Sutro Baths area, stories of steam trains and streetcars, incredible vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands, the remains of two shipwrecks (if the tides are right), and the histories of Sea Cliff, Lincoln Park, the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the forgotten graveyards of City Cemetery.
Our journey begins at 10:00am and takes about 3 hours. Grade: semi-strenuous; nearly 3 miles of walking that includes several stretches of unpaved trails and stairs. Please note that while we at WNP love animals, we can no longer allow dogs on our walking tours, in order to accommodate the needs of all our guests. Thank you for understanding.
Please register through Eventbrite. $10 for WNP members (and we absorb your Eventbrite fees) and $20 for non-members. The super secret meeting location will be emailed to you when tickets are purchased. The walk is limited to 30 people.
