Thanks for a wonderful story, Frank. Christmas and the holiday season can always evoke memories - mostly good ones I hope.
Back in the '30s times were hard, so not only could most families not afford more than a decorated tree, but outside lights had not become popular yet anyway. Except in places like St. Francis Woods...
It was one of our family Christmas treats to have Dad drive us out to St. Francis Woods to see the lights and then to drive through Golden Gate Park to see the shepherds and the real live sheep. A magical time.
