We have been religiously watching the Ken Burns series "The War" on PBS. What an amazing compilation of previously unseen footage and real life interviews. We both loved that many Californians where featured. History is learned best from the folks that lived it.
We always wonder what it was like to live the WWII experience here in the Outside Lands of San Francisco ? I heard some stories from a guy I used to fly with he told me about living in the Sunset and attending Boy Scout meetings at Parkside School. He walked home freezing from the fog in his "summer uniform". He also mentioned some blacked out windows, rations, and such.
Would love to hear all the WWII experiences that happened here.
