I attended the opening ceremony. How delightful it was to listen to elected officials praise the libraries they attend only at openings. (To my knowledge, Sheriff Henessey is the only elected public official in our city to visit libraries frequently. I've seen him at the Main on numerous occasions.)

My sole disappointment with the renovation is that the architect and contractors gave us a wood lined eastern extension rather than continuing the brick exterior. (How expensive could have been a brick exterior? Our baseball stadium looks as if constructed using bricks, but it is a facade of fake brick panels. The planners should have taken a page from the stadium's plans.)
