Another new twist in secondary education in the Outside Lands began last month when Archbishop (they added that to the official school name a few years back) Riordan High School became the only urban school on the West Coast to establish a boarding program. The first students, from the U.S., Asia, and Eastern Europe, are occupying what was once the faculty residence building.

S.I., with a large and similarly underutilized faculty residence building on 37th Avenue, has not given any indication of developing such a program, but instead is planning an extension of classroom and office space. Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, California's oldest secondary school, discontinued its boarder program just over 25 years ago.
