Don't ask me the exact time frame but at the time when they took our beloved exchanges away from us, possibly in the 1960s, the anti-digit dialers raised cane. When asked to give a phone number they would say something like this: My number is five billion, thirty six million, four hundred and eight thousand, seven hundred and fifty two.

Needless to say, it was impossible for an operator or anyone else to understand the number. When asked to repeat the number, they would go through the same routine. After causing much trouble they finally gave up and we are finally where we are now.
