One of my trivia calendars reminds me that yesterday was JFK's 95th birthday--amazing. He was the first politician for whom I ever wore a campaign button--every day in November of 1960, pinned to my St. Cecilia's uniform shirt. I can still see the bright red 1959 Chevy Impala convertible, filled with "Kennedy Girls" in modest one-piece swimsuits, cruising through Stonestown, the girls all smiling and waving to the crowds--oh, how politics has changed since then!

It's also been just 50 years since Marilyn Monroe sang that iconic "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" tune to a packed audience in Madison Square Garden at a fund-raiser to celebrate JFK's 45th birthday.
