Frank, did the "brouhaha between the Plumbers’ Union and the City" you refer to take place during the 1962/63 renovation upgrade? Wasn't that when they added the big dolphin tank? That quickly became one of my favorite exhibits during "feeding time(s)" and I remember it was usually crowded with other spectators as well. I guess it was the Aquarium's version of the Zoo's Lion House...without the noise level.
