I noticed towards the end of the article it mentions the old (long-banished) tradition of throwing coins into the alligator pool. I remember the railings around the pool once featured signs that said something like "Throw a coin / Make a wish / WIth your gift / We'll buy a fish."

I always wondered how many dented alligators were the result of that policy.
