I remember reading somewhere that to celebrate the 90th anniversary of The Aqarium's opening (Sept 29th), admission was free for the day.

Always nice to view photos and video during the era I remember visiting the California Academy of Sciences/Steinhart Aquarium often (50's - 60's). Like many of you, I would make a day of it by also listening to various concerts at the "Bandshell", and always hit the de Young and the Japanese Tea Garden as well. Most often I would go with my sister or some friends so nobody was there to stop me from climbing over the arched foot bridge... ;-)
