The Chronicle included a nice review of the Gold Mirror restaurant at 18th & Taraval in this morning’s edition, calling the place “a San Francisco classic” and describing the food as “expertly prepared and satisfying”. These are very nice words from the same paper that printed a rather snarky comment last year about the restaurant’s lunch crowd being “the born-and-raised-soon-headed-for-Colma”. With Joe’s of Westlake still closed and the Villa Romana closed for good this week, we all need to support neighborhood places that serve up a good dose of nostalgia along with the chianti:
