OK, but still am interested in more details.
Cars are necessary evils. My car commute to work
is less than 5 minutes, 2 min if that one left turn lite
goes my way and there is no traffic in front of me. If
I walk, it's 20 to 30 minutes, which is an option that
is not good for me at this time.
Balance, plus coordination issues, have prevented
me from bicycling for several years.
SF was not designed for modern (or even early) autos.
Which is good. Sometimes. Which is bad. Sometimes.
The last few times I visited I walked until my legs and
feet gave out since walking often took less time than
motorized transportation. Then I took whatever Muni
options were appropriate.
Another point which should be considered, especially
many of us here are no longer 15, is people who have
physical challenges at any age. A 3 to 8 block walk to
Muni may not be possible. Gas prices limit how much
driving can be possible. Eliminating the few thruways
What is the answer? Nothing that will please everyone,
nor achieve the best for everyone. I wish I had a
solution to propose, but I don't.
Thanx for reading.
