'65 was a bit too early for me to remember Beach Chalet as being anything other than a VFW/Biker Bar.
I remember being served there - under-age - in the late '60s. Ordering a "Jack Daniel's straight with a Bud back" was the key to under-age drinking at the time!
But absolutely no recollection of it being used for any returning Viet Nam vets.
Know anyone in the VFW or possibly Dept Public Health?!?
