I had it measured today by a friend. Surprisingly he said it is approximately 2,280 feet. A half mile is 2,640 feet. So it is definitely less than a half mile.

Yet, from the trail above it looks at least a mile away but I guess from the shoreline it is much closer.

It is always good to verify facts even if you think you are right.

Now if I could just get my friend to take me out there on his boat, then I could climb inside and take a closer look. I'm so tempted.
