The man's name is/was Dave and his wife was "Wally" but I don't think that was her real name. My family knew them quite well through their shop as my mom had to have a hot fudge sundae about everyday even when we had to walk and get her one to-go and bring it home for her. I think Dave appeared grumpy alot of the time mostly because he was usually alone working the shoppe, cooking, making the ice cream, and dealing with tons of Lincoln-ers during lunch times. One thing I always loved was that when he was making ice cream, he would always let us have a "softee cone" right from the machine. A great childhood memory with many visits to this fabulous Sunset/Parkside iconic landmark.
