We played a game called baseball against the stairs. All it required was a tennis ball and those outside marble stairs seen all through the Sunset. A pitcher would throw the ball against the stairs the other player stood behind and tried to catch it. Depending on how far it went, if it got by the fielder or fielders if more boys were playing it would be called a single double triple or home run. Simple but provided hours of fun.

We played on 35th Ave between Lincoln and Irving. Curious if others played it or a variation of it.

Football in the street was always very popular

The other odd thing compared to today is not an adult or parent was ever involved. We played, organized, fought about the rules but all was handle by a bunch of kids.

Simple times but lots of fun
